AI Denoise reduces high-ISO grain, color speckling, compression noise and other unwanted texture that becomes visible in low-light photos or heavily compressed image files. It is especially useful for smartphone night shots, indoor event photos, older digital-camera images, screenshots and JPEG files that have been saved or uploaded multiple times. The main challenge is preserving genuine detail while removing random noise. Skin pores, fabric, hair, grass, stars and fine product textures can be mistaken for noise when the setting is too aggressive, which creates the familiar smooth or plastic look. Start with a restrained cleanup and compare the result at normal viewing size as well as 100% zoom. If the photo will be enlarged, denoise before the final upscale so grain and compression blocks are not magnified into larger defects. If the main problem is directional blur or missed focus, switch to AI Deblur rather than trying to remove the issue as noise. A light sharpening pass can be useful after denoising, but only when real edges still need a little definition.

Usually yes when the shadows are visibly noisy. Brightening reveals sensor noise, and upscaling makes it larger. A controlled denoise pass before relighting or enlargement gives later processing a cleaner source.
It can reduce some blockiness and mosquito noise, but very strong JPEG damage may also need general enhancement and careful edge review. Always look for a less-compressed original first because artifact removal cannot restore exact discarded information.
