AI Deblur is intended for photographs affected by camera shake, subject movement, missed focus or general optical softness. It is different from ordinary sharpening: sharpening increases edge contrast around detail that already exists, while deblurring tries to reduce directional smear and restore a cleaner edge structure. That makes it useful for handheld phone photos, event images, portraits, pets, vehicles and other shots where a usable moment was captured but the image lacks crisp focus. The strongest setting is not always the most convincing result. Start with a moderate pass and inspect high-contrast edges, eyes, hair, text, tree branches and repeating patterns for halos or artificial texture. If the image also contains strong low-light grain, denoise first so the deblur model does not treat random noise as real structure. If the source is simply too small rather than blurry, use the Image Upscaler instead. Severe motion blur can remove information completely, so AI may estimate a plausible result rather than recover exact letters, facial features or fine details.
