Choose 2×, 4× or 8× enlargement based on the final dimensions you actually need rather than automatically selecting the biggest output. A 2× upscale doubles width and height and is often enough for web and moderate print use. A 4× result is useful for genuinely small sources, stronger crops and larger artwork. An 8× result creates far more pixels and should be reserved for tiny inputs that still fall short after smaller enlargement. AI upscaling estimates plausible detail between the original pixels, so it can improve edge definition and texture but it does not recreate every missing fact with certainty. Clean the source first when visible grain, JPEG blocks, scratches or motion blur are the main problem, because enlarging defects can make them harder to hide.
